Overview

Much of what an author has to say about a particular theme is revealed through the
thoughts and words of major characters. In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, each character has
something to say on the topic of dreams and reality that reflects his or her perspectives,
beliefs, and worldviews. Students will use this worksheet to locate and examine important
quotes from the play in which characters discuss dreams and analyze what larger message
about dreams and reality Shakespeare sends through the mouths of his characters.
