Understanding chronology is crucial to interpreting a text and drawing larger conclusions.
Students will use this worksheet to arrange the important events of To Kill a Mockingbird into
the order in which they occur. They will also infer which two events are the most important
and explain their choices. Finally, they will step back, think about the events as a whole
narrative arc, and infer a “thread” that connects and unifies all of the plot’s events. This
worksheet should be used once students have read the entire novel.
