Not every narrator provides clear, honest, and unbiased accounts of other characters and events. Examining the reliability of a narrator helps students dig deeper into a text’s truths. Students will use this worksheet to explore Nick Carraway’s reliability as the narrator. Students can complete the second column as or after they read. Once they have finished the novel, they can complete the third column. Discuss as a class whether Nick is truly free from making judgments as he claims to be.
